This week as Your Councillor
Concerns over Labour budgets and how we are making the community better
This Week as Your Councillor
A quick round-up of this week’s work in the parish and beyond:
🛍️ Caught up with casework from the fantastic Orbital Market last Saturday
💬 Spoke with residents about Council Tax and why parish precepts have gone up. Many services cut by Swindon Borough Council, due to a £14.7 million overspend by our Labour-run Borough, now fall to parishes. That includes weed spraying
🌿 Cleanliness is a top concern. Haydon Wick Parish have now budgeted to start weed spraying based on resident feedback
🤝 Met with Swindon Borough Council to improve the Working Together framework
❓ Investigating why the Borough has started charging parishes for some licences without notice
🚌 Spoke with residents about concerns over SEND transport. New Labour taxes will increase costs to Swindon Borough Council and risk reducing services for vulnerable families
🚶♂️ Walked with residents from Orchid Care Home and others at Mouldon Hill in aid of Prospect Hospice
⚠️ Inspected highways and reported roads and footpaths needing repair or repainting
🧽 Reported graffiti to help keep public spaces clean
🌳 Helped a resident plant a memorial tree
🗓️ Took part in the Community Development Committee
☕ Attended a Swindon business breakfast. Encouraged local leaders to stay positive despite rising costs driven by Labour government policie

📩 Priory Vale Labour councillors remain invisible and do not appear to answer emails. I continue to make myself available, even though I’m not currently a borough councillor. My email vinaymanro@haydonwick.gov.uk is open to all
📣 Reminder Haydon Wick Parish’s Annual Parish Meeting is on Monday 29th April. Come along, hear about our work, and speak with the Police and Crime Commissioner about local policing
