π My Week as a Local Councillor 24th-30th March
A busy week focused on community projects and important local matters:
β’ Chaired Full Council β We discussed Mental Health Week, new community benches, and plans for grass cutting and weed spraying as we head into spring.
β’ Memorial cherry blossom tree β A resident requested this in memory of a loved one. Weβve now agreed on a location and look forward to planting it soon.
β’ Swindon & Cricklade Railway partnership β Continuing our work to support local heritage and community events.
β’ Vehicle replacement policy β Reviewing how we keep our parish vehicles cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
β’ Dog mess complaints β Growing concerns from residents. Weβre looking at ways to tackle the issue.
β’ Council Tax discussions β Spoke to a few residents about council tax, clarifying that Swindon Borough Council is responsible for statutory services. The parish will not be funding or supporting these services.
β’ Great British Spring Clean β Joined in litter-picking efforts around the parish. Thanks to everyone who has been helping out!
β’ Street issues β Reporting potholes, overgrown paths, and broken lights to Swindon Borough Council.
β’ Drop-in event at Orbital Market β Alongside fellow councillors, I spoke with residents about local issues and answered their questions. Great to see so many people engaged!
