Dog mess, outdoor gyms and devolution

This week was busy throughout the local community.

Dog Mess & Road Issues

Reports of dog mess on footpaths and parks have increased. Most owners clean up, but some do not. I also checked Thamesdown Drive for potholes. Repairs are needed soon.

Household Bins

Some household bins were missed by Swindon Borough Council. If your bin was missed, please let me know and I’ll inform SBC.

Parish Council Finances & Funding

I helped approve parish council finances, and met with the Parks and Open Spaces Team to update them on the yearly budget. We also discussed starting weed spraying. This is a common request from residents, and with SBC reducing this service, we’re stepping in to help keep our green spaces tidy.

Meetings on Services & Devolution

I met with SBC about North Swindon Library and it future for our community. I also met with the partnership team to improve how SBC works with parishes. I reviewed government devolution plans to see how local choices might change.

Outdoor Gym Project

I proposed a parish council project to install an outdoor gym at White Eagle Play Area in Priory Vale. The tender process for the gym has now started. More on this soon…

Supporting Young Volunteers

I supported young volunteers working on their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Their hard work makes a real difference.
