Today I have visited 2 sites currently well under way.
A local hospital and a football club around an hour away.
The hospital project is seeing a new Emergency Department built, which requires a whole new wireless network design. The internal hospital IT designed the network, but the contractor running the cabling was concerned about the cable locations and number of access points being proposed would not provide the coverage across the build.
I was drafted in to review the plan independently. A predictive survey report was supplied and the contractor presented their concerns to the hospital IT. A couple of meetings later and it was agreed my design would be used and I would project manage the deployment. Cabling is now in, and there is enough structure in place that we can start to confirm up the predictive model with a physical onsite survey.
The football club project is working with a principle contractor who are developing a media section and office extension at a Non-league premier club not too far away.
The design involves a fibre link, new cabinet, switching and wireless. The design has been completed and the fibre link is now in place. The fibre was tested and certified today and is ready to be terminated onto a fibre patch panel once the cabinet is installed.
Both projects are running to schedule and should be complete by the end of February.
