Thick stone walls - limited access

The challenges of getting good wireless signal into old properties is one I relish. More and more I am being asked to provide solutions for older Cotswold buildings in order that wireless signal is available throughout.

This property in Down Ampney was no exception. I started out by coming up with a worst case scenario plan using predictive modelling and then as the physical installation proceeded re-evaluated based on signal levels throughout.

The ground floor has the usual array of rooms and ideal spots for installation. With requirement for TV’s to be wired in we planned for in wall access points.

The second floor is a bit more challenging.

In walls again for two locations and two installed into the loft space this time.

Cabling was the biggest challenge, but routes were found and all cabling in wall.

Overall a good solution which has provided coverage throughout has been installed and the client is very happy.

A return visit will be planned in to get Starlink installed as the Copper ADSL line is only 10Mbps, with no sign of fibre in the next 12 months.
